GEORGE JAN HENDRIK POGGENBEEK (DUTCH, 1853-1903) WINTER LANDSCAPE PAINTING, watercolor on paper, depicting a country path with figure and cart in the snow, a small cottage shown in the woods on the right and a village in the distance to the left. Signed lower right, "Geo. Poggenbeek". Housed in period gilt gesso frame with more-recent surface. Fourth quarter 19th century. 15 3/4" x 9 1/2" sight, 23 1/2" x 17 1/2" OA.
Condition
Painting in excellent visual condition, frame with several breaks and loss, and areas of touchup.
Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.
