GERMAN CHINA HEAD CHILD BOY DOLL, unmarked, shoulder head, hand-painted facial features including blue eyes, eyebrows, and a pink closed mouth, tightly stuffed body with leather hands and separated fingers, jointed at shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees, painted black molded hair in a Kinderkopf style. Vintage clothing including a white dress with red embroidery checks and lace trim, period undergarments, later tan silk shoes. Possibly Alt, Beck & Gottschalck. Second half 19th century. 15 1/2" H.

Condition

Very good overall condition with expected wear, head undamaged, leather hands with significant wear and some tip losses. Clothing in very good condition with some minor imperfections.

Deaccessioned by the Wachovia Historical Society to benefit acquisitions and conservation funds.
