GERMAN HEINRICH HANDWERCK BISQUE-HEAD AND COMPOSITION 42-INCH DOLL, socket head, reverse incised "HANDWERCK / 9", sleepy blue eyes, hand-painted facial features including lightly molded eyebrows, eyelashes, pink lips with open mouth and four exposed teeth, finger and toe nails outlined in red, pierced ears, brown-haired wig, replacement plastic make-do pate, ball-jointed composition body. Together with a tufted fabric-covered doll-size mattress. Two pieces total. Late 19th century. 42 1/2" H.
Bisque head in excellent undamaged condition with very minute wear, composition with wear and expected cracks and imperfections, each hand lacking a finger and one hand with repairs to remaining fingers, toes with some repairs, lacking support rod between ball joints at upper legs. Doll mattress with expected wear, imperfections including several holes, discoloration, and some deterioration.
