GERMAN METTLACH GAMBLING MOTIF CERAMIC STEIN, mold number 2441, having etched sides with polychrome hand-painted decorations featuring scene depicting four figures including a man rolling dice, ceramic inset metal lid with a radish, fish, and pipe and metal thumbrest of the United States seal, 1/2 liter size. Impressed "METTLACH / VB" and "GES. GESCH." marks to base with additional impressed numerals and green-stamped "VILLEROY & BOCH". Late 19th/early 20th century. 8 1/2" HOA.
