GERMAN METTLACH RODENSTEIN CERAMIC MASTER STEIN, mold number 2038, featuring relief design with polychrome hand-painted decoration depicting a town with houses and towers in a wooded setting, ceramic inset metal lid with an elaborate figural castle, engraved to interior with a monogram and "Drink hearty boys / Chicago, 1899.", thumbrest, 3.8L size. Impressed abbey with "METTLACH / VB" and "GEGEN NACHBILDUNG / GESCHUTZ." marks to base, additional impressed and hand-brushed numerals. Late 19th/early 20th century. 16" HOA.

Condition
Mostly undamaged, except having a repair to metal lid at hinge terminal, primarily visible to interior, and some light spots of discoloration to interior.
