GERMAN METTLACH WINE KEEPER LARGE CERAMIC STEIN, mold number 1940, featuring the Keeper of the Wine Cellar depicting a young man standing in front of a barrel keg, holding a stein in each hand with hops surround, signed "Warth", inlaid ceramic lid with molded hop finial, engraved "Fr. Bachmann. / 1893." to top of cover, metal thumbrest with scroll and face design, 3L size. Impressed abbey with "METTLACH / VB" and "GEGEN NACHBILDUNG / GESCHUTZT." marks to base, additional impressed numerals. Late 19th century. 16 1/2" HOA.
