GERMAN METTLACH THIRSTY KNIGHT CERAMIC STEIN, mold number 2382, having etched sides with polychrome hand-painted decorations featuring a knight partaking of drink with dog at side and then riding off into the moonlight, ceramic conical-form roof lid, and figural animal handle with shield in mouth, 1/2 liter size. Impressed abbey with "METTLACH / VB" and "GEGEN NACHBILDUNG / GESCHUTZ." marks to base, additional impressed numerals. Late 19th/early 20th century. 9 1/8" HOA.
