GRENFELL FOLK ART POLAR BEAR PICTORIAL HOOKED MAT / SMALL RUG, wool and dyed silk or rayon stocking material, rectangular form, depicting a polar bear on an iceberg, encompassed by a black frame. Reverse with applied "Grenfell Labrador Industries" label. Grenfell Mission, Northern Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Circa 1935. 14 1/2" x 10 1/4".
Condition
Excellent overall condition with areas of very light fading and toning, a few stains/spotting.
Collection of the late Al and Billy Steidel, Alexandria, VA.
