JAMES RIVER, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, "3" gallon capacity mark, ovoid form with nearly straight tab-like handles, and narrow, slightly-rounded rim. Brushed cobalt circle around capacity mark and small foliate design to shoulder on reverse, additional cobalt to handle terminals. Attributed to Samuel Wilson and/or associates, Richmond or Henrico Co., VA. 1817-1840. 12 7/8" H, 7" D rim.
