JAMES RIVER, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, designated four-gallon capacity, ovoid form with rounded rim, double-banded and incised shoulder rings, and applied arched handles. Brushed and slip-trailed cobalt tassel-decorated frame with "4" to center on both sides. Attributed to John P. Schermerhorn, Samuel Wilson, and/or associates, Richmond or Henrico County, VA. 1817-1850. 15 1/2" H, 8 1/2" D rim.
