STEPHEN B. SWEENEY, HENRICO CO., VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE CHURN, salt-glazed, approximately five-gallon capacity, elongated ovoid form with galleried rim and inner seat, double and triple incised shoulder rings, and applied arched handles. Brushed cobalt cloud-like flower with two leaves to each side, additional cobalt to handle terminals. Stephen B. Sweeney (1799-1862), Bailey's Creek, Henrico Co., VA. 1838-1863. 20 1/2" H, 7 1/2" D rim.

Condition

Excellent visual condition, having a faint Y-shaped hairline to base, a hairline to rim that does not appear to go through to interior, and some professional restoration to an area on rim.
