JAPANESE IMARI PORCELAIN ANIMAL MOTIF DISHES, LOT OF FIVE, each having underglaze blue with bold polychrome overglaze decorations, comprising two low circular-form examples including one depicting a deer and one featuring a crane, one 6 1/4" D bowl with an image of a rabbit to the center, and two lobed-form examples including one featuring a hou-ou / ho-o (Japanese Phoenix) bird and one having cranes to rim with underglaze blue Arita mark to underside. Second half 19th or later. 1 3/4" HOA, 6 5/8" DOA.
