JAPANESE IMARI PORCELAIN BOWLS, LOT OF TWO, each having underglaze blue designs with bold polychrome enamel decorations, comprising one example having cartouches depicting bald figures, cranes, and flowers with an image of two hou-ou / hoo-oo (Japanese Phoenix) birds to center and one example with a floral motif. Together with two wooden stands. Four pieces total. Second half 19th century or later. 4" HOA, 9 3/4" DOA.
Mostly undamaged, floral motif bowl having a minor shallow flake to interior center, possibly as made.
