backsplash applied to the dovetailed case with hinged lifting lid revealing a simple fitted interior, lid with breadboard ends, two Virginia Free Press, Charlestown broadsides dated 1848 and 1876 and other printed materials pasted to underside of lid. Yellow pine secondary wood. Retains an outstanding original dry surface.
First half 19th century.
14" HOA, 27" x 25".
Very good as-found condition, lacking lock, one breadboard end with old crack to top.
