LANCASTER CO., PENNSYLVANIA PAINT-DECORATED POPLAR BOX, rectangular form of nailed construction with hinged lid, applied base and lid moldings, interior with open till. Retains original hinges, lock, and vibrant polychrome surface featuring elaborate free-hand designs against a brown ground. Attributed to Joseph Long Lehn (Clay Township, Lancaster Co., PA, 1798-1892). Circa 1860. 6 1/2" H, 14 1/2" W, 9 1/2" D.

Excellent overall condition, old break with associated repair to lid at hinge, and with very minor scattered wear, slightly heavier to base.
