MEXICAN REMINGTON MODEL 1897 ROLLING-BLOCK RIFLE, CAPTURED DURING THE OCCUPATION OF VERACRUZ, MEXICO, barrel marked "7 M.M - S.M.", right side of receiver marked with a sunburst above "R M" for Republica Mexicana, 5.92 stamped to underside of opposite side, front barrel band marked with M or W, matching 2625 serial number stamped four times, no other markings. Left side of butt stock is hand punched "CAPTURED BY US / SAILORS AT THE / OCCUPATION OF VERA CRUZ, MEX.", and the right side is punched "APRIL, 22 - 1914." Circa 1900. 30" barrel, 45 1/2" LOA.
