MID-ATLANTIC PAINTED PINE SLIDE-TOP BOX, rectangular form with dovetailed construction, and a nailed bottom, the slide-top lid has applied molded decoration and retains an iron hasp which is received by a slot on the end covered with a sheet-iron surround, the opposite end features a horizontal keyhole but lacks interior lock, the sides each retain an applied molded edge at the top. Retains an early Spanish brown painted surface with attractive wear and alligatoring. 19th century. 13" HOA, 21 3/4" WOA, 14" D.
Minor wear overall, primarily to painted surface, rubbing to edges and moldings.
