MID-ATLANTIC, PROBABLY PENNSYLVANIA, CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY CHEST OF DRAWERS, rectangular top with applied edge moldings, two short drawers over three full drawers, each with beaded profile, all flanked by fluted quarter columns and solid ends, the whole raised on an applied ogee bracket-foot base. Pine and poplar secondary woods. Retaining an old refinished surface. Fourth quarter 18th century. 37" H, 35 1/2" x 22 1/4" top.
Provenance: From a Venice, FL collection.
Good overall visual condition with scattered moderate wear, one foot detached but present. Brasses replaced. Wear, cracks, and scattered repairs to drawer lips. Top moldings possibly restored.
