NEW MARKET, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA EARTHENWARE / REDWARE ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, double lead-glazed, comprising an approximately one-quart capacity wide-mouth crock with lightly incised rings below the rounded rim, and a spittoon with D-shape cut-out drain hole, fully glazed under base. Probably John George Schweinfurt and/or John Coffman, New Market, Shenandoah Co., VA. 1840-1890. 6 1/4" H, 4 1/2" D rim and 4 5/8" H, 8 1/2" D.

Condition

Undamaged, except spittoon having a chip to upper edge of drain hole.
