NEW MARKET, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA EARTHENWARE / REDWARE JAR, double lead-glazed with iron-oxide speckles, approximately one and a half quart capacity, wide-mouth form with rounded rim, light incised ring above base, fully glazed under base. Probably John George Schweinfurt (1825-1907), or John G. Coffman (1803-1889), New Market, Shenandoah Co., VA. Circa 1870. 6 3/8" H, 5 3/8" D rim.
Excellent undamaged condition.
