NEW YORK ATTRIBUTED DATED DOUBLE WEAVE COVERLET, navy blue wool and natural cotton, two joined panels, center featuring repeated rose and star design, three sides with border featuring trees alternating with spread-wing American eagles having shields to chests and stars above. Bottom corners with lions being dated "1843" next to the tails, owner's name "MARIA. JOHNSON." to bottom edge. Dated 1843. 78" x 91".
Provenance: From the estate of Josephine Weidman, Cleveland, OH.
Very good visual condition with some light toning mostly along edges, scattered losses and mends notably along center seam, top edge possibly rolled and mended, some scattered stains and spotting.
