AMERICAN CREWEL WORK AND COPPERPLATE-PRINTED TOILE QUILT, hand-stitched, large two-pieced center linen fabric block featuring decorative wool crewel work embroidery with a parrot surrounded by various stylized flowers, four sides having wide border of copperplate-printed toile fabric with vignettes of children in outdoor settings, all-over diagonal grid quilting, knife binding with three edge having applied hand-knotted fringe, three-paneled linen backing. Probably New England. Late 18th/first quarter 19th century. 102" x 94" with fringe.

Poor to fair overall condition, top with overall toning, scattered holes and stains/spotting, toile fabric with heavy fading, embroidery thread with fading and fugitive color, losses mostly to dark-colored thread, fringe with scattered losses and tears, backing with toning, stains/spotting, many holes and losses.
