NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK COIN SILVER THREE-PIECE TEA SERVICE, comprising a teapot, a creamer, and a covered sugar, each having a paneled urn-form well with foliate die-rolled borders around rim, shoulder, and foot, featuring one or two scrolled handles and a pedestal-type foot, teapot and creamer with bone insulators to handles, teapot lid and sugar cover each having a figural acorn and oak leaf finial. Each impressed to base with a maker's mark for Marquand & Co. of New York City, NY (active 1833-1839). Total weight including non-silver components: 82.11 ozt. Second quarter 19th century. Teapot 9 3/4" HOA.
Mostly in very good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections including nicks, a few to some dents mostly minor/small in size, and minor worn spots to raised decoration; teapot with possible repair to spout at underside of tip; creamer with possible repair at lower terminal of handle; sugar with handles having some repairs, one with lower terminal being pushed into the side of the well having possible repair.
