PENDLETON CO., VIRGINIA (NOW WEST VIRGINIA) PAINT-DECORATED WALNUT TABLE-TOP / HANGING CASE OF DRAWERS, rectangular top with applied flat moldings having alternating black-painted squares, above five graduated dovetail drawers with original knobs, and applied moldings to base. Small hanging holes in back. One drawer inscribed "Grace Lough" to rear in pencil. Yellow pine secondary wood. Retains an outstanding original surface. Mid 19th century. 22" H, 18 1/2" W, 7 3/4" D.
Catalogue Note: The present case with owned by Grace Lough (1902-1992) as a little girl - it had likely descended in her family. She lived her entire life in Pendleton Co., WV.
Very good overall condition, lacking base molding on one end, two knobs with slight chew, expected wear to finish.
