PIEDMONT NORTH CAROLINA, PAINT-DECORATED YELLOW PINE BLANKET CHEST, rectangular lid with applied edge molding and early wallpaper lining over a dovetailed case, interior with lidded till, raised on an applied cut-out bracket-foot base, paint decoration featuring "M H" flanking an eight-pointed star in central reserve, surrounded by stylized floral devices and other star forms within a triple-ruled border. Retains original wrought-iron strap hinges and polychrome paint-decorated surface. Possibly Alamance Co., NC. Early 19th century. 27 1/4" H, 48" W, 20 1/2" D.

Condition
Very good overall condition with areas of minor wear and discoloration. Retaining one original spur to feet, others restored. Other minor areas of restoration to feet. Section of lid molding to proper left end restored. Break and small loss to one hinge.
