PIEDMONT NORTH CAROLINA WALNUT BLANKET CHEST, rectangular lid with applied edge molding over a dovetailed case, interior with lidded till, raised on an applied cut-out bracket-foot base. Yellow pine secondary wood. Retaining original wrought-iron strap hinges and an outstanding surface with rich color. Possibly the shop of James Gheen (Rowan Co., NC). Circa 1790. 28 1/2" H, 46 1/4" W, 21 1/2" D.
