RED BOOK ARTIST (NEW ENGLAND, ACTIVE C. 1830), ATTRIBUTED, FOLK ART HOLLOW-CUT SILHOUETTE OF A MAN, a fine example, carefully delineated in watercolor / gouache with pencil highlights, three-quarter length depiction of subject sporting high white stock, pleated cravat with gemstone pin, and bright blue trousers, backboard bearing period inscription "Chas. N. Williams / Bakerfield, VT". Housed under glass in period, possibly original, mahogany-veneered frame with maple / birch edging and brass ringer hanger, poplar / basswood secondary. Circa 1830. 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" sight, 6 1/8" x 5 1/8" OA.

Condition
Very good overall condition with minor toning, heavier at upper sight edge, very minor area of staining / discoloration to book. Frame excellent overall with very minor cracks to veneer.
