RICHMOND, VIRGINIA AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY PRESENTATION COIN SILVER JULEP CUP / BEAKER, slight tapered cylindrical form with reeded border around the rim and foot, period engraving of "Agrct.. Socy.. of Va. / to / J. Wickham. / 1856." Base impressed with the mark for the partnership of Samuel Phillips Mitchell and John Henry Tyler, Sr. (active 1845-1866) of Richmond, VA. Circa 1856. 3 1/2" H, 3 1/8" D rim.

Provenance: From the John H. and Joan S. Byrd estate collection, Harrisonburg, VA.
Good visual condition with some wear, surface scratches, and scattered dents and nicks, rim slightly out of round, interior rim with indentation along the lower edge of border, possibly as made or a repair, having a short split, other possible repair or as-made imperfection along seam base of side, engraving with minor worn spots.
