ROBERT E. LEE (1807-1870) AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED TO A TEXAS RAILROAD INVESTOR, one page single-sided, dated November 12, 1866, a handwritten letter from Lee as president of Washington College in Lexington, Virginia, to John C. French (1825-1889), President of the San Antonio and Mexican Gulf Railroad, discussing a Mr. Stockdale who had visited Washington College with his son. 1866. 8 7/8" x 5 1/2".
Catalogue Note: John Clark French was a successful San Antonio businessman. Among his biggest accomplishments was organizing San Antonio's first regular bank and being one of the founders and president of the San Antonio and Mexican Gulf Railroad.
Condition
Very good condition, water stain at top and area of spotting at bottom, short separation to upper vertical fold crease.
