ROCKINGHAM / SHENANDOAH CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA PLANK-SEAT HIGH CHAIR, poplar and white oak, tablet crest above four spindles, boldly slanted arms, and thick D-shape seat, raised on splayed legs with tapered feet joined with offset rungs. Retains original worn red-painted surface with traces of pinstripping. Possibly by Gordon and Rohr, Harrisonburg, VA. Mid 19th century. 35 1/2" HOA, 22" H seat, 11" D seat.
