SCHERMERHORN POTTERY, RICHMOND, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, designated two-gallon capacity, bold ovoid form with rounded rim, delicate beaded neck ring, double incised shoulder rings, and applied arched handles. Brushed cobalt horizontal floral decoration on both sides and a brushed "2" below each handle, additional cobalt across handles and to terminals. John P. Schermerhorn (1788-1850), Richmond Factory, Henrico County, VA. 1817-1837. 11 1/4" H, 6 1/8" D.
