SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA CAST-IRON STOVE PLATE, being a side plate for a ten-plate stove, lettered "I ARTHUR & Co / COLUMBIA" in a banner above the door opening flanked by neoclassical garlands and an urn at the bottom, retains one door pintil and latch catch. Cast at John Arthur & Co.'s Columbia Furnace, Shenandoah Co., VA. Circa 1810. 26" x 33 3/4".
Provenance: Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation and future acquisitions.
