DEADERICK, TENNESSEE, CONTEMPORARY PRESENTATION FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY-STYLE LONG RIFLE WITH POWDER HORN, approximately .40 caliber, tiger maple fullstock with decorative carving, German silver end cap and buttplate, four-piece engraved German silver Shenandoah Valley-style patchbox, carved cheekrest with inlaid German silver oval and crescents, additional engraved-decorated German silver geometric inlay, rifled octagonal barrel signed "W. Deaderick" to top side and presentation engraving of "Dr. Claude Jones" to top, double set trigger, lockplate with engraved decoration, period ramrod; powder horn with scrimshaw decoration after a powder horn currently in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, NY (accession number 37.131.6a, b), featuring a map of "The Middle Settlements of Cherokees" in present-day Macon Co., NC as well as the royal arms of Great Britain, two men sword fighting, and various animals, side with "Presented To / Dr. Claude Jones / His Horn" and signed "W.B.D.", having wooden cap and plug attached by leather in addition to a powder measure. Attributed to W. Deaderick, Johnson City, TN. Second half 20th century. 59 1/4" LOA, 43 1/2" L barrel.
