SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN WOVEN-SPLINT BASKETS, LOT OF TWO, white oak, comprising a stave-type elongated boat form with end loop handles, lashed horizontal rib above the plaited weaving covering the rim hoop, "80" penciled to one handle, probably the original price; and a rib-type wall basket of elongated form with arched handle. Each retains its original dry, natural surface. Circa 1930. 5 1/4" HOA, 4 1/2" H rim, 18" x 5 1/2" OA; and 6" HOA, 3" D, 12 1/4" LOA.
Boat-form in excellent condition with some scattered minor breaks; wall basket with losses, primarily at the rim.
