STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC COMPOTE, footed two-handled ovoid form, featuring States series patterns, depicting Gunnersbury House, Middlesex to interior and Trematon Castle, Cornwall to exterior, each scene flanked by patriotic female figures Justice and Liberty on platforms reading "AMERICA AND / INDEPENDENCE", and a portrait of George Washington beside Justice, border featuring 15 states enumerated in swags interspersed with stars to interior and exterior, having scalloped rim. Impressed crown mark with "CLEWS / WARRANTED / STAFFORDSHIRE" below to underside foot edge. Ralph & James Clews, Cobridge, England. 1814-1834. 5 1/4" HOA, 10 3/4" x 8 5/8" rim.
