STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC SAUCE TUREEN AND UNDERTRAY, ovoid form, featuring States series patterns, tureen having Coghill Hall, Yorkshire to cover and base, undertray with central image featuring Bear Forest, Ireland, each flanked by patriotic female figures Justice and Liberty on platforms reading "AMERICA AND / INDEPENDENCE", portrait image of George Washington beside Justice, tureen border featuring 15 states enumerated in swags interspersed with stars to interior and exterior. Tray having impressed crown mark with "CLEWS / WARRANTED / STAFFORDSHIRE" below to underside. Ralph & James Clews, Cobridge, England. 1814-1834. 5 7/8" HOA, tray 8 1/4" x 6 1/4".

Undertray undamaged; base and cover in excellent visual condition, having some areas of professional restoration, and base interior gallery with some minor scattered flakes.
