STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC JUG / PITCHER, featuring a States series pattern, each side depicting Trematon Castle, Cornwall with sailboats on lake in foreground, flanked by patriotic female figures Justice and Liberty on platforms reading "AMERICA AND / INDEPENDENCE", and a portrait of George Washington beside Justice, border featuring 15 states enumerated in swags interspersed with stars to interior and exterior, having scalloped rim. Having old hand-brushed accession number "L481 / 923" to underside, otherwise unmarked. Ralph & James Clews, Cobridge, England. 1814-1834. 8 3/8" HOA.
