STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF THREE, each featuring light blue transfer "Columbian Star / Octr 28th 1840.", as printed to underside, created to commemorate the election of William Henry Harrison as the ninth president, it depicts a charming log cabin, including two examples featuring a man behind plow being pulled by a pair of horses, and geometric stars border decoration. Additional marks to underside include a garter-style mark with "Jn Ridgway" below pattern name, impressed "JOHN RIDGWAY" and various numerals, one plate having underglaze hand-brushed "B T". John Ridgway, Hanley, England. 1830-1841. 3 3/4" to 10 1/4" D.

Undamaged, some having light short scattered scratches from use.
