STAFFORDSHIRE TRANSFER-PRINTED ROMANTIC MOTIF CERAMIC PLATTERS, LOT OF TWO, each having black transfer scenes, comprising one example depicting "SOLAR RAYS", as printed to underside, featuring a rising/setting sun with exuberant rays and figures in boats in foreground, and one example with Asiatic Scenery #3 depicting a mosque-style building and a boat with three figures wearing turbans. Additional marks to underside include impressed "18". Thomas & John Carey, Lane End, England; and other. Second quarter 19th century. 17 5/8" x 14 5/8" and 19 3/4" x 16 1/4".
