STAFFORDSHIRE TRANSFER-PRINTED ROMANTIC / ORIENTAL MOTIF CERAMIC PLATTERS, LOT OF TWO, each having black transfer scenes, comprising one with "Chinese Pastime", as printed to underside, featuring two figures carrying a litter and a pagoda-style building to side, and one example with "Oriental Scenery", as printed to underside, depicting a ship with oarsmen and classical-style buildings with domes. Additional marks to underside include printed "DAVENPORT", "10", and standing lion, and impressed "MAYER", "18", and "20". Davenport, Longport; Thomas Mayer, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Second quarter 19th century. 18 3/4" x 15" and 21" x 17 3/4".

Condition

"Chinese Pastime" with minor chip to rim underside; "Oriental Scenery" example having an approximately 4 1/2" L hairline.
