STAMPED "FORT EDWARD, N.Y." DECORATED STONEWARE ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, salt-glazed, each having applied arched handles and Albany-slip glazed interior, comprising a "J.A. & C.W. UNDERWOOD," jar, "2" gallon capacity mark, cylindrical form with squared rim, slight shoulder and a "OTTMAN BRO'S / & CO." crock, "2" gallon capacity mark, cylindrical form with flat-top rounded rim. Each having slip-trailed cobalt stylized floral design to front. J.A. and C.W. Underwood, Fort Edward; William and Gilbert Ottman, Fort Edward, NY. Second half 19th century. 9" H, 9 3/4" D rim and 11 3/4" H, 6 1/2" D rim.
Underwood example having three minor shallow rim chips, scattered red paint flecks, and some minor scattered glaze exfoliation; Ottman example having rim with some minor scattered flakes to interior and a chip to exterior, with some areas of staining.
