STAMPED "P. HERRMANN." BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA MERCHANT'S STONEWARE JUG, salt-glazed, "2" gallon capacity mark, beehive form with ringed mouth, and applied strap handle with thumb-pressed lower terminal. Stamped "FROM / HENDERSON & AVERY / 226 KINC. ST / ALEXANDRIA. VA", cobalt highlighting the stamp. The pottery of Peter Herrmann (1825-1901), Baltimore, MD. Circa 1875. 13 3/8" H, 7 3/4" D base.

Condition
