TOWLE "FONTANA" STERLING SILVER 304-PIECE FLATWARE SERVICE, pattern designed by Robert J. King in 1957; solid sterling pieces comprising 61 place forks measuring 7 1/4" L, 46 salad forks, 12 cocktail / seafood forks, 21 dessert / oval soup spoons, 68 teaspoons, two meat serving forks, one lemon fork, seven serving / tablespoons with four having pierced bowls, one casserole spoon, one gravy ladle, one cream ladle, and three sugar spoons; hollow-handled pieces comprising 58 place knives, 14 butter spreaders, one small carving fork, two pie / cake servers, three butter knives, and two cheese servers. Most with "STERLING" and maker's marks, many with pattern name, ten place knives, one butter spreader, and one butter knife without marks, possibly being worn, but likely having sterling hollow handles. Total weight excluding 80 hollow-handled pieces: 286.58 ozt. Together with a "Hampton Court" butter knife by Reed & Barton of Taunton, MA having a hollow sterling handle and stainless blade. 305 pieces total. Towle Silversmiths, Newburyport, MA. Very good to excellent overall condition with minor wear, minor to moderate surface scratches, and other imperfections including nicks, slight bending, slight worn spots to raised decoration, and/or possibly one or a few dents.
