U.S. MODEL 1832 AMES ARTILLERY SHORT SWORD, double-edge slightly waisted blade with three-paneled fullers on each side, one side of ricasso stamped with an eagle above "N.P. AMES / CABOTVILLE", the other side with "US / 1845 / NWP", cast-brass hilt with scaled grip and shield-breast eagle to each side of pommel, guard stamped with cursive "WaT" to one side, and "NWP" to other. Circa 1845. 25 1/4" LOA, 19" blade.
