VICTORIAN WOVEN HAIR MOURNING WREATH, various shades of hair intricately woven on a metal wire frame with black thread wrapping into floral arrangements, featuring a large wreath with open top accented by metal beads, framing a small bouquet with a silk ribbon tied around the stems to center. Housed under glass in a probably original octagonal shadow box frame. Second half 19th century. 21" x 19" sight, 23 1/4" x 21 1/8" OA.
Hair wreath in very good visual condition with some wear, spots of unwoven and fraying of hair, interior of frame with small remnants of hair and dust, exterior glass with tape residue, interior glass with spotting and residue, frame with some wear and surface scratches, one panel of back possibly replaced. Not examined out of frame.
