VIRGINIA MERCHANT'S STENCILED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-half gallon capacity, cylindrical form with slight shoulder, flat-top rounded rim, beaded shoulder ring, Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt "E.J. MILLER & CO. / ALEXANDRIA.", additional decorative ornament to center and end. Probably made by James Hamilton, Greensboro, PA. Fourth quarter 19th century. 7 7/8" H, 4 3/4" D rim.
Condition
Undamaged, having some scattered silver paint flecks.
