WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA STENCILED STONEWARE JUG, salt-glazed, designated two-gallon capacity, semi-ovoid form with ringed mouth, beaded neck ring, and applied strap handle with medial ridge and thumb-pressed lower terminal. Stenciled cobalt "JAS. HAMILTON & CO / GREENSBORO / PA.", double stenciled "2" below, brushed cobalt dashes to shoulder and a stripe above base, additional cobalt to top handle terminal. Circa 1870. 14" HOA.
Condition
Mostly undamaged, except having a shallow chip to top of mouth and some minute flakes to ring on mouth and shoulder.
