WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA STENCILED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, designated two-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with slight shoulder, flat-top rounded rim, beaded and incised neck rings, Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO. / PA.", "2" capacity below with additional decorative stencils, brushed cobalt wavy line above stencil and a stripe below rim and above base. Circa 1870. 12 1/8" H, 7" D rim.
Condition
Mostly undamaged, except having a faint, tight rim hairline and a "T"-shaped hairline extending parallel just above base, each to back.
