WINSLOW WILLIAMS (AMERICAN, 1917-2007) SATIRICAL GENRE SCENE, oil on Masonite, an interior scene with rich detail, depicting various caricatured figures in a Gothic-style study, purportedly the English Department in a faculty meeting at Yale University, signed lower left. Housed in an old, possibly original, gilt frame. Circa 1950. 36" x 26" sight, 38 1/4" x 28 1/2" OA.
Catalogue Note: Born in Richmond, VA, Winslow Williams (1917-2007) was a graduate of the Yale University School of Art and was an illustrator for Yale (mostly football programs) during the 1950s. A student of Norman Rockwell, Williams was also known for more traditional portraiture and remained a popular artist in Richmond for decades.
