19TH CENTURY GILT AND GESSO OVAL FRAMES, LOT OF TWO, comprising a larger oval form with fruit and floral ornamentation; and a smaller example which is plain other than a cartouche at the top. Second half 19th century. Larger 19 1/2" x 15 1/4" sight, 25 1/2" x 21 1/2" OA.
Condition
Larger in very good condition with minimal losses and very nice regilded surface; smaller example with some losses to cartouche, and some fragments included.
Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.
